About
The North eastern region is identified as a potential hub for development of India bio economy to reach the target of $ 5 trillion by 2024. This can only be possible by accelerating the potential of development and economic potential of the region through employment generation and improving socio economic condition by utilizing the rich natural resources. The region caters both the opportunities and challenges for skill development and building an entrepreneurial ecosystem. The North East region has huge potential for starting a business with wealth of bio resources and cheap labours. But the major obstacle face by the entrepreneur includes lack of knowledges on the technology available for upscaling, business mentor and incubation centre to train the necessary skills set for a successful start-up. The poor infrastructure and communication facility and lack of start-ups ecosystem in the region hinder the growth of the entrepreneurs. With the aim of self-reliant India and to uplift the innovation ecosystem and improve the livelihood in the northeast region, BCKIC Foundation is working relentlessly to identify and nurture start-ups as well as provide mentoring support to nascent incubators. It aims to provide a holistic platform to catalyse interactions between stakeholders in order to promote technology growth in the northeast region of India. BCKIC has a vision to create and build an enabling ecosystem in the region for technology development and provide structural and fundamental support to the budding innovators/starts up and incubators of the region. The region has the potential to transform into an industrial hub with the implementation of the Look East Policy.

GENESIS OF MANIPUR TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION HUB
The Manipur Department of Information Technology (DIT) signed an agreement with KIIT TBI on 5 January 2022 to establish a Manipur Technology Innovation Hub (MTI HUB) with KIIT TBI on the PPP model to improve entrepreneurship in Manipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the MTI-HUB virtually in the presence of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. As per the agreement, the Manipur Government will provide furnished 10,000- sq ft build-up space with part of operation cost. To further strengthen the ecosystem development, both Manipur Government and KIIT TBI will reach out to the Government of India funding agencies such as DST, MeitY, MSME and BIRAC-DBT. Under the Hub and Spoke model, Technology Incubation Centre, Manipur is expected to function as a platform with KIIT-TBI as the nodal mentoring incubator (hub) that shall catalyze the development of proactive collaboration among various partnering institutions in NE (spokes) like IIIT-Manipur and Manipur Institute of Technology etc., to create an ecosystem for technology development and commercialization in a holistic manner.

NORTHEAST STARTUP SHOWCASE (NESS) SUMMIT
To promote the seeding of startups in the Northeast and provide a nurturing platform to Northeastern startups, BCKIC Foundation in collaboration with MTI-Hub & BIRAC Regional Centre (BRTC) at KIIT TBI conducted the first Northeast Startup Showcase (NESS) Summit 1.0. 35+ technology-driven startups from Manipur, Assam and Nagaland participated and showcased their technologies and products to various stakeholders and policymakers. The event witnessed a footfall of more than 200+ visitors in two days. On the second day, 25+ startups also pitched their technologies and the best 5 startups were awarded cash prizes and pro bono incubation. During this event, 16 startups from the Northeast also signed virtual pro-bono incubation agreement with KIIT-TBI. 6 startups from outside the Northeast participated in this event and 2 startups are moving ahead to establish their ventures in northeast.
