Turning Waste into Value at Chilika

BCKIC was honoured to host Shri Amlan Nayak, DFO and Additional CEO, Chilika Development Authority (CDA), at our “Waste to Value” pilot facility in Chilika.

Shri Nayak appreciated how Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation with support from Epsilon Carbon Pvt. Ltd. has turned a growing environmental concern into an opportunity by converting an invasive reed biomass, which has long threatened the Chilika wetland and disrupted local fishing livelihoods, into value added products.

He also had a meaningful interaction with the Self-Help Group (SHG) women’s who are driving this initiative on ground, transforming the invasive biomass into handicrafts, green straws, and green agarbatti.

This effort aims not only to restore the Chilika wetland ecosystem but also to create sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
